A very cute, young Aleut girl finds herself busy while collecting edible cow parsnip in the fields on St. Paul Island in the Pribilofs in Alaska, USA. This chore is something young children learn at an early age and are prepared to help out during the day.
Cow parsnip is a herb which many Native American people use to apply to bruises or sores while the stalks and leaf stems can be used a source of nourishment. Other uses for the dried stems of the cow parsnips are drinking straws or flutes for the children.
This cute Aleut girl, smiles at the camera while continuing her chores as her hair blows in the breeze.
