The ice continues to build along the coastline of the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba as winter sets in and the temperatures drop to well below freezing. The white, foamy waves crash up and over the icy rock ledge as a storm begins to build along the Hudson Bay.
The Arctic wildlife which resides around the Hudson Bay and relies on the frozen coastline for a means of survival, finds every winter storm a blessing. When a storm moves in during the winter season, it can produce gale force winds, a blanket of fog and waves which forcefully crash against the shore. If the temperatures are well below freezing, the water can immediately turn to ice when it hits the coastline. A majority of the time, the temperatures around Churchill, Manitoba will not warm up to above freezing until sometime in May.
