A vessel belonging to the US Navy, the USS Chafee (DDG-90), cruises through the waters of Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska as the snow covered mountain peaks tower above. The USS Chafee is an Arleigh Burke Class guided missile destroyer which belongs to the US Navy and was named after a marine veteran of Guadalcanal.
The USS Chafee was built by a company known as Bath Iron Works Corp and is 510 feet in length with a steel hull and 2 propellers that can travel at a speed of 30 plus knots. There is enough room on board to accommodate 32 officers and 348 enlisted members of the US Navy. Its first launch date was on November 2, 2002 and was commissioned on October 18th, 2003.
The USS Chafee is a high capability ship which is to be used in high-threat areas to conduct air, submarine, surface and strike warfare operations. This vessel is still an active unit of the Pacific Fleet with the US Navy and uses Pearl Harbor in Hawaii as its home base.
