Underwater Stellar Sea Lions Dance Southeast Alaska

A group of Stellar Sea Lions perform their underwater dance for a scuba diver in the waters off Southeast Alaska in the USA.

Scuba divers enjoy a chance to watch the Stellar Sea Lions dance amongst each other as the light from above shines into their underwater world. Rolling and spinning around one another, the eyes on the Stellar Sea Lions appear luminous as they approach the underwater camera.

The Stellar Sea Lions reach an average length of between eight and eleven feet depending on their sex and between 300 and 1100 kilograms. Due to their massive size, they are very graceful when they take to the water and by using their breast stroke movements, they can reach speeds of about 17 miles per hour.
