Trident Volcano glistens under the sunny summer skies in Katmai National Park in Alaska, the ideal day to capture some aerial pictures of the area. This volcano is classified as a stratovolcano and is still a very active one which last erupted in January of 1975.
Prior to this, there were eruptions from Trident in 1953, 1960 and a small rumbling in 1968. There are nearly 24 lava domes atop Trident volcano, a name which came from the three adjoining volcanic rock cones which were important landmarks before the eruption in 1953.
