Crested Auklet seabirds are a smaller type of bird who nest in large colonies on the Aleutian Islands or on other islands in the Bering Sea. During breeding season, a Crested Auklet is easily noticed by the crest of feathers on the top of its head and an odor which they emit which is a social characteristic.
These seabirds grow to a height of about nine inches with a dark brown and black plumage. The bill on these three Crested Auklets are bright orange in color and these birds can easily be spotted nesting on the Aleutian Islands.
Their nesting grounds usually consist of areas surrounded by rocks and large boulders but during the winter, they prefer the open ocean.
