Looking across the harbour in Sydney, Australia at sunset, the sky is aglow in fiery hues as the night lights begin to illuminate the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the surrounding buildings. The Sydney Opera house is a place where a multitude of performing arts happen and is one of the greatest iconic buildings of the 20th century.
Located on Bennelong Point along the waterfront of the harbour, the Opera House was named as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in June of 2007 with its original opening date being in October of 1973. Just behind the Opera House is the Sydney Harbour Bridge which adorns the skyline of the harbour and is a very prominent feature during the sunset hours. This is the world's largest steel arch bridge and spans between the central business district of Sydney to the North Shore. Opening in 1932, the bridge is 429.6 feet from the top to the water level and tourists can enjoy one of the many tours where people can climb the southern half of the bridge.
Both the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge are surrounded by many of the main attractions of Sydney, Australia and are easy to access while visiting Australia. The view of the Sydney skyline is beautiful during the sunset hours, just before darkness closes in over the region.
