The Simatai Section of the Great Wall of China is one of the few sections along the wall which retains its original features of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall. Built during the Northern Qi dynasty and then rebuilt in the Hongwu years of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1398), the Simatai Section is 5.4 kilometers long and has 35 beacon towers along it.
Designated as one of the World Cultural Heritages sites by UNESCO, the steepness of the Simatai Section is stunning as it hangs on the landscape of the Yanshan Mountain. There are eastern and western parts to the Simatai Section of the Great Wall of China with the western part having 20 of the towers and being less steep. The eastern part has 15 towers and travels over the cliff edges and high mountain peaks.
Visitors to China will find the scenery along the Simatai Section of the Great Wall of China spectacular. An incredible place for hiking, exploring and sightseeing while touring this region of China.
