Silver salmon, also known as Coho, have been put on a display board on the sea docks in Seward, Alaska to show the beauty of the type of fish which can be caught here. Silver salmon are one of the most exciting species of fish for fishermen due to their behavior when trying to reel them in and the incredible taste they have when freshly cooked.
Averaging about 8 to 12 pounds in size and 24 to 30 inches in length when they are adult salmon, they have a dark metallic blue/greenish hue on the back and upper sides, silver on the middle and lower sides and white below when they are in the sea. When the Silver Salmon make it to fresh water, they gradually turn red and darker in color.
This display board of Silver Salmon in Seward, Alaska shows the variation in size as they hang side by side.
