A fisherman shows off his two beautiful Sheefish he caught while fishing in the Kobuk River in Brooks Range, Alaska. Sheefish found in the Kobuk River and the Selawik drainages which run along the southern banks of the Brooks Range, can range up to thirty and forty pounds and are the largest found.
The best fishing time to catch the large Sheefish is between July and October with the average sized fish being about fifteen to twenty-five pounds, but other fisherman have caught ones forty pounds and up. The Sheefish have silvery sides becoming a blackish green color along its backside with scales which are fairly large compared to other types of fish.
The grin on this fisherman's face is one which will never be forgotten and chances are, he will be returning to the Kobuk River for another fishing excursion.
