Taking flight over the barren hills of Denali National Park in Alaska, USA, a Sandhill Crane follows its migratory route near Wonder Lake. The Sandhill Crane is a large species of crane with a wingspan between 6-8 feet and when fully mature, it makes soaring look easy while flying over Denali National Park.
With the right airflow, the Sandhill Crane can fly for hours at a time using up very little energy and only flapping their wings on occasion. When a flock of migratory Sandhill Cranes fly together, the thermals are endless which they ride upon.
While breeding, the Sandhill Crane has plumage which is not the prettiest as it appears worn and stained with a pale yellowish brown hue to it. They have a long pointed bill and long dark legs which linger behind them while flying. These birds are fascinating to watch while exploring Denali National Park in Alaska, USA.
