Supplies dating back many years, line a shelf in an old rustic cabin along the road to McCarthy in Wrangell Saint Elias National Park in Alaska, USA. Tins, boxes, plates, spices, kitchen tools and cups are no longer sold in these styles, making one wonder how long this rustic cabin has been situated here.
This rustic cabin is just one of the many interesting stops along the miles of gravel road leading to the small town of McCarthy, Alaska.
Once a booming town in 1900 when the copper mines in nearby Kennicott were running strong, but McCarthy was nearly abandoned in 1938 after copper supplies had vanished. Today, there is approximately 50 people who reside in McCarthy which is located 120 miles northeast of Cordova at the foot of the Wrangell Mountain Range.
