A Red Fox stands along the rocky shore of a river in Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, USA where a salmon leaps out of the water. Keeping a close eye on this salmon, the Red Fox is hoping his fishing expedition is successful.
In the wilderness, the Red Fox can be a very cunning animal with a playful side especially when it comes to food. After the Red Fox has had its fill, it will play with its food by throwing it up and trying to catch it. When humans are in the vicinity, the Red Fox will change quickly and become very shy and nervous.
The Red Fox will usually feed on insects, small mammals, fruit and birds but when the opportunity arises, a good salmon is also very satisfying. Many salmon make their way up the rivers in Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge where other animals like bears and bald eagles also spend their time fishing.
