A stance by this Raccoon making him appear like he is begging as he stands on his hind legs, is a common behavioral trait seen by these animals in the wilderness as well as in captivity. The sharp front claws on the Raccoon are held in front like human hands as he stretches his body upwards while standing on his hind legs.
A distinguishable feature of the Raccoon is its black mask around its eyes and the striped black tail which has anywhere from four to ten rings. The paws on the raccoon have five toes and their fur coloring varies slightly depending on what wilderness region they reside in, a majority of them being grey to reddish brown.
Growing to about 6 or 7 kilograms in weight and between 23 to 44 inches in length, their tail is what makes up most of its body length. At top speed, the Raccoon can travel about 15 miles per hour on the ground, but most of them seen by humans walk with their common gait. The stance on their hind legs is one which they use to scope out their surroundings when any unusual sounds are heard or when trying to grab for any type of food which is out of reach.
The Raccoon prefers to sleep during the day and become active at night but in order to take advantage of their food sources, some lurk about in the daylight hours. A cute animal in the wilderness, but when found around homes and dwellings, they can become a nuisance.
