A man stands in the icy cold waters of the Provo River in the Wasatch Mountains near Heber, Utah in the USA, flyfishing during the early morning hours of winter. The blue sky brings sunlight to the trees and banks of the Provo River which are all blanketed with snow.
There are two main branches of the Provo River, the North Fork and the South Fork which were originally named the Timpanogotzis after the American Indian tribe which resided along the bank. The name was changed to the Provo, along with the city after a trapper known as Etienne Provost.
Flyfishing during the winter is a popular activity for those who love this type of outdoor activity, but many prefer the warmer months where an abundance of brown, cutthroat and rainbow trout are found. As the river meanders through the Heber Valley in the Wasatch Mountains, most people found flyfishing here use artificial flies and lures.
