From the shores of Prince William Sound in Alaska, USA, hikers find an excellent viewing point to look out over the Harriman Fiord at the Chugach Mountains and Barry Glacier. Barry Glacier is a tidewater glacier, its terminus ends up in the waters of Prince William Sound.
Barry Glacier is one which calves fairly regular and many hikers have watched as an extraordinary show takes place before them. As the glacier calves, a loud thunderous crash can be heard across the fiord and the calm waters can suddenly alter their appearance.
