A pink hue sweeps across the sky at sunset over the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska as a Polar Bear stands in the shallower areas along the coastline of the Beaufort Sea. The Polar Bear is set in the midst of a bowhead whale skull which has come into view from the depths of the Beaufort Sea.
Polar Bears are the largest predator found on land, males reaching a weight of 1,500 pounds and a female being half that size. Against the whale skull, this Polar Bear seems small as its body easily fits inside the frame.
