Standing at a height between six to eight feet on her hind legs, a mother Polar scours the area for any incoming danger while on a beach along the Beaufort Sea with her cubs. The mother Polar Bear will protect her cubs until they are around 2 1/2 years in age and in this time span they must learn survival techniques to ensure their safety as they grow.
Although the only real predator to adult Polar Bears are humans, occasionally other bears, cubs can be the victims of wolves and other adult male Polar Bears. Sometimes starvation takes over which can also lead to death. While the cubs travel with their mother, protection is her main concern until they reach an age to venture out on their own.
