Before winter arrives and the Beaufort Sea coastline in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, USA turns to ice, a Polar Bear scours the beach for food. The Polar Bear is extremely hungry during the Autumn months as many of them have fasted during the summer. Any food is welcomed until their real feast on seals begins.
The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is home to 45 species of animals with the most frequent visitors being the Polar Bear, Grizzly Bear, Black Bear, Wolf, Wolverine, Moose, Caribou and the Muskox. Getting here to view these animals is difficult due to its remoteness as there is only one gravel road in. A majority of the refuge is only accessible by plane, leaving the Polar Bear and other animals to the peace and quiet of the wilderness.
