An Osprey tends to build their nest in a safe area, either on a cliff, on small islands or high above the water to ensure the safety of their chick from any unwanted predators. These birds need to be within 3 to 5 kilometers of water, such as a salt marsh, swamps, lakes, bogs or along a river where they can find plenty of fish.
An osprey is a large bird of prey with a wingspan of approximately 145 to 170 centimeters. Their plumage is dark brown down their backs and on the outer areas of their wings, but their underside is white in color with a few scattered brown spots. The chick is similar in color except for they are more speckled than the adult birds, but their plumage will change to adulthood by 18 months.
