As you wander through Totem Bight Historic Park in Ketchikan, Alaska, one will discover how to decipher the meanings behind the Native people's art. Each character carved by the Native people onto the totems is symbolic and each one tells its own silent story relating to the animals which have been a major part of their culture. This particular piece of art is called Thunderer's Pole signifying Thunder belonging to the Thunder House people. There were four brothers which were changed into Thunderers and were known to create thunder and lightening throughout the sky.
