The original of "The Wall" is on display in Washington, DC and in 1982, John Devitt decided this memorial should be shared with people throughout the USA. A half-sized replica of this memorial, called the "The Moving Wall", was built by Vietnam veteran volunteers and was on exhibit for the first time in 1984 in Texas.
On June 24th to June 29th in 2006, "The Moving Wall" was on tour to Cordova, Alaska. The replica of the memorial is made of aluminum panels and when names are added to the original in Washington, DC, they are also added to The Moving Wall.
Today, there are two replicas of The Moving Wall which travel throughout the USA from April to November each year, being on display for approximately a week at each location. Millions of people view this war memorial every year which has seen over 410 locations to remember the 58,000 people who died at war saving their country.
The Moving Wall is a traveling half size version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Cordova, Alaska.
