Mountain Runner Mount Marathon Race Seward

When running down the mountain on the last half of the Mount Marathon Race in Seward, Alaska, each runner must be careful as their speed is increased immensely. Every fourth of July, participants who have entered the race begin in the downtown region of Seward.

There are limited spaces for entries to protect the environmental impact of the Mount Marathon Race. Certain veteran runners, prior year registrants and special invitations are considered first for this race and then others are added after. No more than 350 woman, 350 men and 200 juniors are allowed to run every year, with a total number of runners being 900.
