Located in Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Alaska, USA is a historic landmark known as the McCarthy Lodge. This building was first established in 1916 and was used as a cannery in a place called Katalla, Alaska. Carefully dismantled and transported to McCarthy, Alaska, the building was then rebuilt and used as a photographic and sundries storefront by Captain J.P. Hubrick.
In the 1940's, the building was refurbished becoming a big game hunting lodge until the 1970's when the town of McCarthy grew and so did the tourism. The McCarthy Lodge is the oldest building in Wrangell St. Elias National Park, the most photographed and is now home to a fine restaurant.
Throughout the summer months when tourism is at its highest in Alaska, USA, the McCarthy Lodge features first rate meals and is known as the area's premiere dining establishment. A casual restaurant is located next door to the McCarthy Lodge and guests rooms are available for those visitors who want to spend some time exploring this historic location in Alaska.
