Fleets of fishing boats have called it a day and anchor in the calm waters of the Kenai River just as the sky becomes highlighted at sunset in pink hues. The surface of the Kenai River reflects the sunset lighting as the clouds thicken but still allow the rays to filter through and adorn the sky in pink.
These fishing boats are well prepared to begin their next adventure where they scour the waters of the Kenai River and the Cook Inlet looking for the ideal fishing spots.
Decorating the backdrop on the coastal shores of the Cook Inlet, stands the snow covered volcanic peak of Mt. Redoubt. The sunset scenery is picturesque especially with Mt. Redoubt rising to 9,000 feet above the water. Four major eruptions have taken place on Mt. Redoubt with the most recent one being in March of 2009.
The Kenai River flows for 82 miles and fishing is popular here as the salmon travel this route during migration.
