Matanuska Glacier in Alaska, USA is the largest glacier in Alaska which can be accessed by car and spans the landscape for 24 miles in length and 4 miles in width. The terminus of the Matanuska Glacier is 12,000 feet down into its source, the Matanuska River, making it quite a challenge for people spending their day ice climbing.

For those who want to attempt ice climbing the Matanuska Glacier, instructors are available for some basic training on the techniques needed for this adventure or one can join up with the guided ice climbing groups. The only recommendation required for this type of activity is that people should be in fairly good physical shape as ice climbing is a tiresome and challenging type of exercise.
