Icebergs which have calved from the 300 foot face of the Holgate Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska, USA blanket the base of the glacier and a hiker stops to get a close look at these massive pieces of ice. This iceberg is fairly small in size compared to some of the ones which break away from the glacier during the summer months.
Holgate Glacier is a tidewater glacier and when in close range of this natural wonder, one can see how the landscape has been reformed by the retreat of the glacier. Many kayakers, canoeists and hikers who visit Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska, find Holgate Glacier to be a highlight of their adventure.
