The bright red plumage on a Hawaiian Apapane is easy to spot in the trees in the Haleakala National Park in Maui, USA while it flitters about collecting nectar from the blossoming flowers. The Apapane is endemic to Hawaii with only about 3000 left in the region but are not considered as an endangered species yet.
