Seventy kilometers northeast of Beijing, China, stands the Mutianyu Section of the Great Wall of China which joins Jiankou and Lianhuachi. First built in the mid-6th century, reconstruction was needed in 1569 and the architecture on this section of the Great Wall still remains as one of the best maintained pieces.

Along the Mutianyu Section, the Great Wall of China stands between 7 and 8 meters high with 22 watchtowers strategically located. Constructed mainly out of granite, this section is one which has its own set of unique characteristics in its architecture when it was being built. The Mutianyu Section is open to visitors with a cable car which is used for anyone requiring assistance as well as a wheeled toboggan ride.
