A mass of whiteness soars past the trees in the Tongass National Forest in the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness in Alaska, USA. Adult gulls have a wingspan of approximately 54 inches with the males being larger than the females.
Large colonies of gulls are found in Alaska which they often return to yearly and they become very territorial about their breeding grounds. There are various species of gulls and a mixture of them are seen in this flock which soar around their place of residence, mainly being that near salt or river/salt water along the coastline. The Stikine-LeConte Wilderness is 448,841 acres in size giving the flock of gulls plenty of area to spread their wings.
