A female Northern Cardinal bird is not as colorful as the male species but is still very eye catching with its light brown coloring, sharp crest, orange bill and slightly red tinge on its plumage. Considered as a medium sized bird, this songbird will be about 8.3 to 9 inches in length and weigh about 1.6 ounces when fully mature. The female will lay about 3 to 4 eggs each time which happens anywhere from 2 to 4 times during a year.
