Three types of berries grow in the wild along the Denali Highway in Denali National Park in Alaska, USA where they thrive in the Alaskan wilderness. When grouped together, these berries create a colorful picture of the natural berries found throughout Alaska, USA and other parts of the world.
The Bog Bilberry is a small deciduous shrub sprouting green stems with oval shaped, bluish-green colored leaves. This shrub produces fruit in a dark blue-black berry having a white flesh and very sweet when they have fully ripen.
The lowbush cranberry goes by a variety of names and is another small evergreen shrub which produces edible fruit. These types of shrubs grown to between 10-40 centimeters in height and prefer a fair amount of shade, moist soil and can tolerate very cold temperatures.
The Alpine Bearberry is the last of the three types of berries seen in this picture, another species of shrub growing to be between 10-30 centimeters in height. The berries are dark purple to black in color with flowers blooming in white hues.
Wild berries can create some of the most spectacular pictures, often things which are bypassed while traveling along the Denali Highway in Denali National Park in Alaska, USA.
