Four cute Canadian Geese goslings nestle together, a common place to see them is along the lakes and ponds in Anchorage, Alaska in the USA. The plumage on the goslings is yellow with some grayish brown coloring along the top of their heads and on their backs.
The goslings do not enter their fledging stage until they are about 6 to 9 weeks old, but even then, they do not separate from their parents until after spring. As the goslings age, they will lose their soft plumage and become the same colors as the adults with a black neck, bill and head and a variety of white patches. The rest of their body will become a brownish-gray color with the females and males being similar in their appearance.
The adult Canadian Geese are extremely protective over their goslings and can become very viscous if there is any sign of a threat. The goslings are moved away from the nest after being hatched where they feed and find shelter together.
As cute as these goslings look in this picture taken in Anchorage, Alaska, one knows the parents are not far off and visitors should stay clear to avoid any confrontations.
