An aerial picture of the Copper River Delta in the Chugach National Forest near Cordova, Alaska shows off its beautiful spring colors across the landscape. The Copper River Delta is made up of forests, wetlands and coastal islands creating a home to about 16 million shorebirds.
Throughout the green colors exploding during the Spring, the waterways create unique patterns across the area which are much easier to view from above. Covering 700,000 acres, the Copper River Delta is constantly changing due to the forces of nature and is considered to be the largest contiguous wetlands along the Pacific Coast of North America.
Spring is one of the best times of year to explore the Copper River Delta as wildlife is seen more frequently, especially first thing in the morning or as the day nears its end.
