The valley in which Child's Glacier resides is about 12 miles long and 7 miles wide and located 50 miles from the town of Cordova in the Chugach National Forest in Alaska, USA. As the glacier reaches the edge of the Copper River, it comes to halt where it calves into the water creating a spectacular show.

Rafters enjoying the day on the Copper River, view the glacier from the water which gives one a different perspective of the area. The face of Child's Glacier is 300 feet high and when calving occurs, usually between May and September, large chunks of ice crash into the river and then become icebergs.
