Miles of endless highway breaks up the landscape of the Chugach National Forest in Cordova, Alaska as the clouds roll in over the snowy mountain peaks. The Copper River Highway is a dirt road which runs for a little over 56 miles with the first 12 being paved and the rest of the highway being gravel.
Passing through the Copper River Delta in the Chugach National Forest, the scenery is beautiful which has flourished considerably since the construction of the highway was started in 1945. At the end of the Copper River Highway, the road continues for another 10 miles to the Allen River, a road suitable for four-wheel drive vehicles.
