A photographer stands in the mud along the shores of the Cook Inlet on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, USA capturing the incredible beauty of the area at sunset. The sky is aglow in yellow and pink hues which reflect off the calm waters of Cook Inlet and highlight the snow covered mountains.
The tidal zone region along the shores of the Cook Inlet leaves behind a silty and muddy surface as the tides sweep in and out with some areas on the Kenai Peninsula still being partially frozen. The lighting sparkles off the icy sections as the photographer slowly sinks into the quicksand like ground which has melted halfway.
The Kenai Peninsula extends about 240 kilometers and is separated from the mainland by the Cook Inlet on the west and Prince William Sound on the east. The coastal climate around the Kenai Peninsula is relatively mild, but winter can still bring in cold temperatures and ice.
The tranquility surrounding Cook Inlet and the sunset scenery creates a paradise for this photographer.
