An old rusty shovel and colorful flowers adorn the outside of the windows on a historic cabin located in Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, Alaska. Twenty-nine log cabins are scattered around Pioneer Park, many used as houses in the pioneer days while others were home to a church, granary and jail.
This historic cabin, along with many others, were moved from the downtown core of the old Fairbanks, Alaska to this famous historic theme park. Some of the historic cabins needed a little extra love and attention to preserve them and with the addition of the colorful flowers, Pioneer Park comes to life during the summer months.
A popular tourist attraction, Pioneer Park is a community park which opened to the public in 1967 and here visitors will find specialty shops, restaurants, carousels, railroads and historic log cabins. Summer is a beautiful time of year to visit Pioneer Park as the colorful flowers blossom and various family activities are always being scheduled.
