As spring arrives in the Chugach National Forest in the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska, vibrant colors span the landscape as the wildflowers bloom.
The small purple flowers are known as Jacob's Ladder and as they grow, each flower appears in the shape of a bell while the leaflets on both sides of the stem give a ladder effect. The blue flowers growing amongst the Jacob's Ladder are known as Alpine Forget-me-nots. This delicate wildflower is Alaska's state flower and produces a long stem with a cluster of blue flowers growing from about 6 to 15 inches.
A mixture of blue and purple wildflowers in the Chugach National Forest always creates the ideal setting for a beautiful picture.
