A couple of hikers have made their way to the cliffs near the face of the Chenega Glacier on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, USA where they can stop to enjoy the scenery. Small icebergs float on the surface of Prince William Sound which have calved off of the Chenega Glacier and scattered themselves around Prince William Sound.
Chenega Glacier is a tidewater glacier located in Prince William Sound and was named in 1905 for Chenega Island and the community of Chenega Bay. This glacier attracts hikers, kayakers, tours and cruise lines, most of them departing from the town of Whittier, Alaska in the USA.
Many hikers will make their way to the Chenega Glacier while on the Kenai Peninsula during the summer months as it is fairly easy to access and well worth the scenery. The length of the glacier is 12 miles and is continuously retreating year after year.
