Mount Athabasca, part of the Canadian Rockies which borders Banff and Jasper National Parks in Alberta, Canada, glistens in the sunlight which reflects off the horned shaped glacier peak. The peak of Mount Athabasca is snow covered all year and when the skies display their deep blue hues over the mountain, the scenery around the region is incredible.
Standing at a height of 11,453 feet, Mount Athabasca towers well above the treeline and is one of the most accessible mountains to climb in the Canadian Rockies. The best time of the year to attempt the climb is usually between the months of June through to August before the ice forms. A guide can be booked who will take you up a route which best suits each groups physical conditions where the scenery is breathtaking.
Mountaineering always carries a risk and some hazards to face on Mount Athabasca are hidden crevasses, snow and ice avalanches, rocks falling and severe weather conditions which can move in any time over the Canadian Rockies.
Canada, Rockies, Mt Athabasca, 11,453 ft / 3491M.
