The Copper River Delta in Alaska, USA is used by approximately one million shorebirds during peak migration and here a flock of Black Turnstones spend time flying together over the surface of the water. The Black Turnstones breed only in Alaska, USA and fly from Southern Alaska to Baja, California during the winter months.
The Black Turnstones feed mainly on insects during the breeding season found in the wet meadows and in the winter, they will mingle about the seaweed beds searching for invertebrates such as crustaceans and mollusks.
