While traveling along the Seward Highway at Turnagain Arm in Alaska, USA, Bird Point is a unique place to stop where the scenery is breathtaking and a visitors park displays Beluga Whale sculptures. These sculptures are life size and white in color as they emerge from out of the concrete along the Bird Point trailhead.
They are arranged in poses resembling that of the Beluga Whales who swim about in the waters of Turnagain Arm in Alaska, USA. These sculptures show the realistic shape of the melon heads on a Beluga along with their blubbery back and small flippers.
As visitors stand at Bird Point, the possibility of seeing Beluga Whales is very real but over the past decade, the number of whales have diminished by about half. Scientists have various beliefs why these whales are decreasing and many believe that this marine mammal should be included on the endangered species list.
