A fisherman has both hands gripped around a Sockeye Salmon which he caught in the Ayakulik River near Kodiak Island in Alaska, USA. Every year in the rivers and streams around Alaska, millions of salmon return to spawn and along with their own species, fishermen return to.
The Ayakulik River has trophy winning Sockeye, and many areas around Kodiak Island also have some of the biggest known Coho, King and Chum salmon. The majority of the salmon are caught by fishermen who are either trolling, gill-netting or purse seining and some are captured by fisherman venturing out on their own pleasure craft.
