The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is a 19.2 million acre reserve set aside in Alaska's vast arctic region to protect the abundance of wildlife which call the area home. Another reason for its protection, is that the refuge is also one of the finest examples of untouched wilderness in the world as well as being the traditional homelands of the Inupiaq Eskimos and Athabascan Indians.

A few of the species of the wildlife in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge include polar bears, black bears, grizzly bears, Moose, Dall Sheep, Muskox, Caribou, Wolf, Wolverine, and over 180 species of birds.
