Alaskan Brown Bear Water Running Glacier Bay National Park

Picking up a smell which could be a possible threat, an Alaskan Brown Bear immediately leaves the water running towards the wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska, USA.

An Alaskan Brown Bear moseying about the river in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska, USA can smell the presence of humans nearby and takes off running through the water. As this bear escapes, the large shoulder muscles show of its distinctive hump as its powerful legs give him the speed. The Alaskan Brown Bear has a good sense of smell and if climate conditions are ideal, the bear can detect odors more than a mile away.

The Alaskan Brown Bear is one of the largest living carnivores, some which can weigh over 1600 pounds but it is not as ferocious as a Grizzly Bear. At full running speed, an Alaskan Brown Bear can reach a pace of 35 kilometers per hour, leaving their prey very little chance of escaping these massive animals.

Alaskan Brown Bears are in the same species as the Grizzly Bear but they are larger as they have a food intake which consists of rich seafood. Seeing these incredible animals in the wild is an experience of a lifetime which one will never forget. Certain rules and viewing behavior should be read through before hiking or traveling through bear country to ensure the safety of yourself as well as the bears. Many of the waterways during the salmon's spawning will keep the bears entertained while feeding and the presence of humans has very little impact on them.
