Alaska Canada Border Sign Alaska Highway

The welcome sign at the border of the Alaska Highway after visitors leave Canada and enter the Arctic wilderness of Alaska, USA.

At the border of the Alaska Highway, a large wooden sign is erected into the rocky landscape which welcomes visitors to the natural wilderness of Alaska. This sign begins the trip to the 49th State after leaving the beauty of Canada.

Port Alcan is the port of entry for many visitors to the United States which is located at milepost 1,221.8 on the Alaska Highway. There is a border crossing here which stops all traffic entering Alaska where they must be cleared by a Customs and Border Protection officer before continuing on.

The border crossing is opened 24 hours a day throughout the year and the welcome sign is the start of a memorable Alaskan vacation.

Welcome to Alaska sign at the Alaska / Canada border.
